SCOLT K-12 World Language Teacher of the Year

 

SCOLT K-12 World Language Teacher of the Year and Candidate for ACTFL Teacher of the Year- One nominee per state; candidates must have an endorsement from the state organization.

Candidates will NOT be required to submit a video or DVD to SCOLT, but upon selection by SCOLT, the candidate will need to submit a video teaching segement to ACTFL.

  • State nominees must submit a portfolio no later than January 10, 2008. Candidates must submit 3 copies of the portfolio. Do not use plastic covers for the pages or place in a notebook; use a binder clip on the copies.
  • Student samples: submit written work only. Please have appropriate releases for student work.
  • State nominees will be interviewed at the 2008 SCOLT conference in Mrytle Beach (Thursday, April 3rd). In the course of the interview, candidates will also role play a press conference speaking on behalf of the foreign language profession. The 2008 regional winner will be named at the Friday General Assembly (Friday, April 4th )
  • The SCOLT regional winner will go on to represent SCOLT at the November 2008 ACTFL conference. ACTFL will help with costs.

SCOLT has waived the registration fee for the state nominee and will pay $100 toward transportation/accommodation costs. Please use the conference registration form, but note that you are the nominee from the state for the ACTFL TOY competition.

The nominee from each state will be the guest at the SCOLT Luncheon on Friday, April 4, 2008.
